family unable to disclose location
due to the nature of his job --
special operations

Master Sgt. Thomas Smith is the cousin of Crossroads member and tech guy, Les Smith.  Thomas is the youngest of three sons.  The oldest son, Tracy, retired from the Air Force where he worked in Logistics and Supply.  The middle son, Tim, retired from the Navy.  Tim worked in off shore rescue, then later, was an instructor in off shore rescue.  Tim was stationed in Chicago, IL.  Thomas' father, Bob, was in the Air Force, with the RF 101 Voodoo's.  These were the planes that took pictures over Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis.  Thomas' father passed away 6 years ago.  His mother, Alice, currently is living in Skidway Lake, MI.

.

Thomas was awarded the 52ndFW NCO of the year for his work as an explosive ordinance disposal craftsman.

During 2007, Sgt. Smith was forward deployed with the Army conducting 163 missions outside the wire in Iraq.  While there, he manually removed a rocket from an impaled Soldier allowing for the safe recovery of his remains and the continuation of the mission.  For his actions in Iraq, Sgt. Smith earned a U.S. Army Combat Badge.

Our church and our country thank Sgt. Smith for his faithfulness in his duty to God and his country.  Thanks to the Smith family for sharing Thomas with us.  Please pray for Thomas to have continued safety.
