Matthew Meier is a career Marine currently serving in Afghanistan.  He has completed two tours in Iraq.

     Matthew's wife, Leanne,  gave birth to their daughter Savannah during his time in Iraq.  Savannah is now 5 years old.

     Matthew was recuited into the Marines in 1999, during his senior year of high school.  Matthew went to school in Stockbridge Michigan. 

     Matthew's brothers, Joel and Dustin, are also both Marines. 

     Matthew's grandfather, Phil Marentay, served in the Coast Guard during World War II, transporting Marines during the D-Day landings.  His grandmother Wanda Marentay, is a past president of the V.F.W. Auxilary.
